What do you think of that?
I'm sleeping down at the laundromat
If you should pass by be sure to drop my bag
Come 'round and meet my friends
They'll be there with me right through to the end
Right through to the end
Right through to the end
What do you think of that?
I'm sleeping down at the laundromat
If you should pass you should drop my bag
But I don't have no clothes to clean,
to put inside the machine
It was the craziest place I've ever been
Oh, come around and meet my friends
They'll be there with me right through to the end
Say I told you so
Maybe bad times come and go
You don't know that right now but then you'll never know
What do you think of that
I'm on the street like an old stray cat
If you should look for me you'd know exactly where to go
Oh, come around and meet my friends
They'll be there with me, with me to the end
What do you think of that
I'm sleeping down at the laundromat
If you should pass by drop right in
But I have no clothes to clean
To put inside the machine
It was the craziest place I've ever been
Oh, come around and meet my friends
They'll be there with me right through to the end

Give me til Monday, that's only a day or two
Give me til Monday, that's only a day or two
I'll pay you back with interest, if it's the last thing that
I do yeah
I'll pay you back with interest, if it's the last thing that
I do yeah
Give me til Monday, that's only a day away
Give me til Monday, that's only a day away
I'm down on my knees, Ive got one foot in the grave
I'm down on my knees, I ve got one foot in the grave
I've got the Loanshark Blues I've got the Loanshark
Blues
Give me an offer I can't refuse
My wife needs shoes my kids must eat feel so cold, I can't
feel my feet
Can't get my hands on one thin dime gonna turn to a life of
crime
No work here, so I walk the street sign on the door, feel
I'm beat
I known you run Pier 15 you got a grip on all my dreams
I got the Loanshark Blues the Loanshark Blues
Give me an offer I can't refuse
Give me til Monday, that s only a day or two
Give me til Monday, that's only a day or two
I'll pay you back with interest, if it's the last thing that
I do
I'll pay you back with interest, if it s the last thing that
I do
I got the Loanshark blues the Loanshark Blues
Give me an offer I can't refuse
The roofs got holes, see the sky can't get straight and I
have tried
I'm in your debt, I'm well aware I'll break the law
cause I don't care
Living on a knife edge I have been but I'm to though to just
give in
Moving on down with the longshore men on the docks we're
locked out again
I got the Loanshark Blues the Loanshark Blues
Give me an offer I can't refuse
I got the Loanshark Blues the Loanshark Blues
Give me an offer I can't refuse

You are a moonchild and pretty soon child
I've got a feeling that
I've gonna make you smile forever
If I can
Just give me a sign,
and I show you my grain
You are a blue child forever true child you
Know that I tried to scrape the skies blue forever
If I can
Just give me a sign,
and I show you my grain
Tell me why, you look so sad
Time slips by like trace of sand
Just put your future in my hand
Tell me why you look so sad
You are a moonchild and pretty soon child
I've got a feeling that
I've gonna make you smile forever

Looks like the morning sun that's come to play outside my
window
Another night has gone, if something's changed then it does
not show
She looks like the morning sun but you must re member
She's as cold as December, I can't remember what I've
done
Looks like the morning sun that's come to play outside my
window
Another night has gone if something's changed then it does
not show
She shines so brightly and make your two eyes blink
But you know she can't be found when the sun begins to
sink
She looks like the morning sun but you must remember
She's as cold as December, I can't remember what I've

Now ain't it strange that I feel like Philby, there's a
stranger in my soul
I'm lost in transit in a lonesome city, I can't come in from
the cold
I'm deep in action on a secret mission, contact's broken
down
Time drags by, I'm above suspicion, there's a voice on the
telephone
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Well it sure is dark in this clockwork city, contact's never
gonna show
I've got a code which can't be broken, my eyes never seem to
close
Well, I'm standing here in the silent city, shadows falling
down
I'm disconnected but I don't need pity, the night's gonna
burn on slow
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Now ain't it funny that I feel like Philby, a stranger on a
foreign shore
I've got my plans and I must move quickly, there's a knock
upon the door
Still in transit and I'm close to danger, my cover can't be
blown,
It's getting strange and it's getting crazy, tell me, what
is going on?
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Four o'clock and nothing's moving, six o'clock and the
daylight's stirring
Morning comes, must be moving on
All night long my mind's been burning, makes me feel such a
long, long way from home, home
Now ain't it strange that I feel like Philby, there's a
stranger in my soul
I'm lost in transit in a lonesome city, I can't come in from
the cold

Know my dog anywhere I hear him bark
Well I know my rider
if I see her in the dark
Well I'd know my dog anywhere I hear him bark
Well, I'd know my rider if I see her in the dark
Ain't it cold for you, mother when you say you don't love
me?
Well that's alright woman, you gonna need my help
someday
You didn't say you didn't love me, when you were stretched
out across my bed
You're drinkin' moonshine
whisky and talking all outta your head
Ain't but two kinda people in this world that I can't
stand
That's a lying woman and a cheatin', knockin'
man1
Well, I feel like slapping my pistol in your face
I'm gonna let the graveyard be your resting place
Well I'd know my dog anywhere I hear him bark
Well, I'd know my rider if I see her in the dark
__________
Note 1: knockin' man, Doug O. Padgett was wondering, as I do
now as well, what "knockin'" in this context means?. Is it
just an error in the transcription and if so what is the
correct word? Or, is the transcription correct? In any case
if you have suggestions or info on this little mystery
please mail
me, thanks!.

Well that sounds like the night train, blowin' its stack
Spreading its wings on homeward track
Arrived here this morning, won't be here for long
As fast as a shooting star, that's' what them eight wheels
are for
Come on baby lets jump aboard
It's a mean piece of transport baby
You know that's no joke
On board the aging gamble smiles as he peels
The seal off a new deck, then he quietly deals
Hands round the table from the bottom he slips three
Watch yourself if you play this game the fastest card game
on wheels
Come on, won't you be there when it leaves
Can't you hear them talkin' about it together we could race
the breeze
It shines out a light, in the darkest night
To make us feel alright
To make us feel alright
I've prayed every night
That you will wanna go there too
Come on darlin', let's go
Night is over as the dawn begins to crack
Sounds like a hen hatching in a chicken shack
Late last night I think I heard a lonely cry
Heard the blind owl howling in a moonless sky
Come on
Won't you be there when it leaves
Can't ya hear me talkin'
Together we could race the breeze
Old engine driver never stepped on the ground
Got no degree in geography but he's been around
Knows all the back lines, eyes can hardly see
Don't tell this man to slow down
'Cause he don't know what you mean
Come on
Won't you be there when it leaves
Can't you hear me talkin baby
Together we can race the breeze
It shines out a light, in the darkest night
To make us feel alright
To make us feel alright
I've prayed every night
That you will wanna go there too
Alright
Well that sounds like the night train, blowin' its stack
Spreading its wheels on homeward track
Arrived here this morning, won't be here for long
As fast as a shooting star, that's' what them eight wheels
are for
Won't you be there when it leaves
Can't you hear me talkin' baby
Together we can race the breeze
Can't you hear me talkin' baby
Together we can race the breeze

Soft-soaped on the road to hell
So many times I tripped and fell
No changes left the sky is falling down on me
One step from the demons' fire can't stop the train
The flames get higher too late to save me
The wall is coming down on me
Broken wishes and broken dreams
Close to the edge I cut it lean
No regrets the angels gonna cry on me
Push the tempo push the time
No excusus not this time
No way out the ground is opening up on me
Can you feel the beat
Coming from the street
Pour rain down on me
They try to keep me on a long thin chain
Thanks but no thanks just the same
You saw it coming the devil has got the jump on me
Lost soul on the road to hell
Wind up the motor and ring the bell
No stopping now pain is coming down on me
Straight time on the road to hell
No mercy time at the wishing well
No turning back angels going to cry for me

Seven days of thunder eight days of rain
The feeling that I'm under
Is like a ball'n chain, like a ball'n chain
Just round the corner I know a store
Gonna trade in my razor and bay a 44
And I'll come knocking knocking door to door
The feeling in my head is like all out war
All out war third world war
And if they catch me and put me in the chair
You can sit beside me there's plenty room to spare
You are the reason I am in tis fix will you cry for me
When they throw that switch throw that switch
This time they'll lock me up for sure
Throw away the key when they slam the door
City to city town to town
Seven days running
Will they track me down
Will they track me down

In the flinty light, it's midnight, and stars collide
Shadows run, in full flight, to run, seek and hide
I'm still not sure what part I play,
in this shadow play, this shadow play
In the half light, on this mad night, I hear a voice in
time
Well, I look back, see a half-smile, then it's gone from
sight
Won't you tell me how I can find my way?
In this shadow play, this shadow play
In this shadow play, this shadow play
Sounds come crashing, and I hear laughing
All those lights just blaze away
I feel a little strange inside
A little bit of Jekyll, a little Mr. Hyde
Sounds come crashing, can I hear laughing?
All those lights just blaze away
I feel a little strange inside
A little Dr. Jekyll, a little Mr. Hyde
Thoughts run wild, free as a child, into the night
Across the screen a thin beam, of magic light
Things they just don't look the same
In this shadow play, this shadow play
Shadow play, shadow play
I can't run away from this shadow play
Shadow play, shadow play

You're like a Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of
town
Just want to see the pictures, tell your man, "Turn down the
sound"
You're acting wise but aren't you afraid, 'round here you
might get blown away
Like a Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of town
Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of the tracks
I saw you ask the poor kid, to take the time to show you
back
Don't burn your wings, flying too high
Around here you just might end up dying
Like a Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of town
Slumming Angel, don't you know your way around?
Straight out of heaven, don't you know where you stand?
Take off those rose-colored glasses, this is no
wonderland
You're like a Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of the
tracks
Saw you ask the poor boy, to take the time to show you
back
Go home to your daddy, where you ought to go
Things have changed around here, don't you know
You're like a Slumming Angel, lost on the wrong side of
town
Slumming Angel, let me show you around

The dirty tricks department is working overtime
Trying to stop the candidate from getting this time
The wheels are now in motion all the traps are set
Under this commotion will he walk into this mess
The state's intoxicated they're at the staarting gate
He may never make it to the planned TV debate
He can't fight off the big bucks of the old brigade
He's gotta watch his step in this smear campaign
They called a snap election in the summer heat
This town is reeling backwards
Like a drunk man on the streets
Feed those lies
Bend those minds at any price
Foul or air
As long as he's not there
Election time
Don't believe the papers it's not anybody's race
He's not a rank beginner it's not a children's game
He may get the nomination if he breaks through the chain
Or they'll shoot him down on Main street in this smear
campaign
Just watch the party faithful fuel the dream machine
They've fudged up all the issues eat that scandal sheet
The dirty tricks department is nearly half insane
Trying to stop the candidate with a smear camaign

Tattoo'd Lady, bearded baby they're my family
When I was lonely something told me where I could always
be
Well I spent my youth under canvas roof as I roamed from
town to town
I'm not fooling when I say I got no schoolin', never like
the class bell sound
From inside the caravan I hear the fairground band, sounding
good as they can be
You know I can't be found
But if you look around, tomorrow we'll be gone by dawn
Now hear it on the loud speaker say, the fire eater is a
real fine sight to see
You know he's a death cheater, some kind of central heater,
be sure to save a seat for me
Let me tell you 'bout wicked Sadie, she's no baby,
the law came and tried to close her sideshow down
But soon she had the D.A. cheering, the police chief wearing
her garter for a crown

Well, the devil made me do it, do it, do it
The devil made me trip and fall
The devil drove me to it, to it, to it
Till I had no chance at all
What did I do that was so bad, to go and get myself
arrested?
Just hit town to have some fun, but I ended up in the trash
can
There I was in the witness stand, my eyes turned towards the
jury
Trying to recall what went wrong last night, but it won't
come right back to me
Well, the devil made me do it, do it, do it
The devil made me trip and fall
The devil drove me to it, to it, to it
Till I had no chance at all
The lawyer said, "Son, won't you plead the fifth, and don't
speak unless requested"
Using all the words at his command, his skills were sorely
tested
Then, to my complete surprise, they went and called a
hostile witness
The devil himself, well he took the stand and that's where
my case rested
Well, the devil made me do it, do it, do it
The devil made me trip and fall
The devil drove me to it, to it, to it
Till I had no chance at all
What did I do that was so bad, to go and get myself
